Best of Bookish Gifts: Store Sale AND T-Shirts Galore

09/03/16: Wow, I’ve already gotten emails from Canada and the UK asking for the Support Packs. So I’ve added international shipping. Enjoy!

Somehow I never got around to announcing that I have a new store:

http://www.teedun.com/store

There you’ll be able to find a few bookish related items such as jewelry, signed books, and branded satin bags to go along with your reads from me. I’m trying to keep the selection small (and shipping to U.S. Only) as I don’t have a ton of time to keep an eye on dozens of items. I think the bracelets are quite pretty but today I’m most excited to announce the product on the top of the store list! That’s right, we’re now offering new SUPPORT PACKS – in regular ($9.99) and mega-support variety. 😉

Promotional Banner

This is a one-stop-and-shop combination designed to get everything you’ve wanted in a single grab bag.

Each Courtlight Support Pack includes:

1 T-Shirt (Adult Size in S, M, L, XL, or 2XL)

1 Signed Paperback of Sworn To Raise (with new cover art)

1 Set of Bookmarks

1 Set of Buttons

1 Sticker Sheet

1 Algardis Satin Bag

All of that in one mailing for $9.99. Shipping included. I know, amazing right? It’s pretty impossible to find that combination of swag and goodies anywhere for such a low price. As of right now, I am not selling signed paperbacks or t-shirts separately, but if I do the support pack pricing will change.

NEXT! I am so excited to let you know that you are not limited to just my store for custom Algardis Universe merchandise! I am proud to announce that Upon A Day Dreamer, an amazing graphic artist, has opened a Society 6 store and included the ‘Shatter An Empire’ tagline in a line of apparel for me as a featured author.

So you are welcome to buy merchandise from her as well. You can see more examples of her Society 6 merchandise below.

UPON A DAY DREAMER Society 6 Store

Go crazy and get all the things! The great thing about the Upon A Day Dreamer shop (and others like it) is that you can get any shirt size, color, and/or fit you want. Want a sweatshirt? She’s got it! How about a fitted t-shirt with v-neck? Also available! I love variety like that and the design is stunning too!

Happy shopping! And if YOU decide to open a reader/artist merchandise store with items related to my books, I am more than happy to give you a shout out too! Just send an email.

Supporting Girls Any Way I Can

It’s one of those fast/slow weeks in-between releases when I’m drafting like crazy but not yet bogged down by release week preparations. So I’m going to share part of an email I got from a school in Florida.

“I am the Executive Director of a school for at-risk Girls called PACE Center for Girls. We are located in Polk County, FL. Our girls are currently doing an Accelerated reading program and many have started to read your series.”

Firstly, hats off to all the teachers and educators and librarians who have somehow found their way to my small corner of the universe. It’s a treat every time I hear from one of you. The letter continues on and after I connected back with the Executive Director I agreed to share materials with the PACE Center in Polk.

So I’m sending those lovely girls three hardcovers (books I’ve purchased myself), bookmarks, cards, and lots of love – because its important to support girls nationwide and I want to do all I can to help with that cause. And big thank you to the PACE Center for reaching out and to the amazing girls who are reading my books!

If you are a Teacher, Librarian, Educator or Bookseller, as always my inbox is open! Reach out to Rachel @ assistant@terahedun.com. I’d love to work with you in any capacity, especially in support of young readers.

Sworn To War: Courtlight #9 Cover + Blurb Reveal

Sworn To War Cover

I want to thank all my readers for continuing on the  journey with me through the Courtlight series! I hope you’re enjoying reading Sworn To Sovereignty and are getting all geared up to read Sworn To War! Without further ado, sit back my pretties and read the summary of Ciardis Weathervane’s new adventure!

War1

Ciardis Weathervane is facing a war on two fronts. One with the dragons. One with the deities.

She is ready to face the god that they’ve known was coming for months, but the people that she thought would coalesce around her are faltering under the pressure, the lies and the deceit.

She knows that the very foundation between ruler, nobility, and commoner had fractured down to its core. Now the capital city and its people need to be reforged, bound in fire before they’re consumed by brimstone.

But the citizens of the empire need more than a speech to believe in the rulers that betrayed them just days before. With their empire on the line, Sebastian lays out his first ruling edict which may be more than even he bargained for.

As Sandrin comes together once more before the final struggle, the daemoni prince is struck down and the princess heir-in-waiting has doubts as to whether they can forge a more perfect union without the one that completes their souls.

With Thanar trapped in purgatory while they fight to resurrect the city that gave them lifeCiardis and Sebastian are in a battle to the death against a god bent on living forever.

The Tweets Keep Coming – @tedunwrites + Hardcovers

If you haven’t checked out my Twitter posts yet, you should follow along! I’ve been sharing some of the swag that’s on order for librarians for the Summer Reading giveaway! I also love to share tidbits from my writing, the latest book of course being Sworn To Sovereignty: Courtlight #8.

In other news, we’re starting to see Sworn To Raise hardcovers pop-up in libraries nationwide (here we are in Alabama, Colorado, & Virginia) so I figured its time I do an ‘official’ reveal!

Beautiful, glossy, lovely pictures at the base. But first…some news. ^.^

This spring I announced a new cover for Sworn To Raise when we revealed the beautiful new trailer located here:

That trailer has since gotten 15,000+ views and has been a fan favorite. I couldn’t be more pleased!

“The trailer gave me goosebumps!! even though I have now read all 7 of the current books I cannot wait to own a physical copy!! #ShatterAnEmpire!”

So I’m here to officially announce a new special edition hardcover for the Courtlight series!!

New Hardcover Comp Design

As you may or may not have realized, I’m not the type of author to constantly change their covers. Once I make them they’re set and I can move on to things like formatting the paperback for publication, putting together swag pieces for the books, and distributing the title to as many venues as possible. The cover becomes the representation of the series wherever its seen and I’d say the original cover for Sworn To Raise has done a pretty good job of that so far.

But I was so excited that SWORN TO RAISE has been picked up in an exclusive distribution deal with Ingram, that I had to have a new cover designed to celebrate this release into hardcover! I hope you love the new cover design as much as I do and that you’ll enjoy reading Ciardis’s story in print. To celebrate the new hardcovers and (coming) bookstore launches, I’ll be doing some special swag giveaways later this summer.

State of the Algardis Universe — 2015 In Review

tumblr_nkmwdfpoAG1sdgou2o1_500

Hey Readers,

With the successful release of Sworn to Vengeance and with Sworn to Sovereignty well underway, we (Rachel and I) wanted to take some time to let you know what we have been up to for the past year and what we are looking forward to in the year to come!

2015 was a huge year for us as far as opportunities to both expand readership and our brand. Six titles were released and published in four separate languages (two in Spanish, one in Portuguese, two in French and one in German). The Spanish release of Sworn to Raise hit the Amazon Espana Top 100 Bestsellers list, Sworn To Raise in French got amazing accolades, and Sworn to Raise in German was selected as a Kindle Favoriten title.   So to all of our readers involved with helping Courtlight make those charts: Gracias! Vielen Dank! Merci!

The Courtlight series signed distribution deals with OverDrive, 3M Cloud Library, Ingram and EBSCO eBooks.   These are major eBook retailers that most self-publishers don’t have access to but thanks to the awesome fan base we were able to take advantage of these opportunities!   As a result of the distribution deal, the Courtlight series is now housed in library catalogs for over 576 libraries in 25 US states as well as 4 foreign countries for print and eBooks.   So far I’m happy to list Australia, New Zealand, France, and Great Britain with hope for more on the horizon. Last year also saw gain hardcover distribution as well with Ingram Publishers Services, which I can make some awesome announcements about soon.  In addition to this some negotiations with agencies and publishers were/are on the tbale (we’re still looking for the magic ring 😉 ; plus while all of this was going on every book was successfully published in paperback!

Needless to say 2015 was amazing, but took a lot of work – hence the fact that basically no new books were published in 2015. I apologize for that but together we were working hard on brand management. It’s tough doing or being responsible for every single thing related to your work, but it was worth it in the end. Majorly worth it.

2016’s goal is simple – bigger venue distribution and getting back to doing what we love most—getting fantastic new ebooks out to our readers. We’re off to a rocking start with the much anticipated release of Sworn to Vengeance taking off last month and Sworn to Sovereignty underway as of this past weekend. We were also happy to show off last month the gorgeous new artwork for the hardcover release of Sworn to Raise as well as the amazing new book trailer for the Courtlight Series. (And if you haven’t seen the new trailer for Sworn To Raise, please go take a look! It works for the entire Courtlight series with a focus on Book One.)

This year we are also anticipating expanding the library program with the goal of all 50 U.S states having access to Terah Edun books as well as hardcover distribution to those libraries and to bookstores across the globe. We’ve already gotten emails from teachers, librarians, and booksellers both eager to stock and to push the Courtlight series now that they are available on key venues. Which is why I believe outreach is critical and I hope you’ll work with me to make 2016 an even bigger year for Courtlight in multiple fronts.

That said, let’s get to what you’re all here for:

My next major writing project, after the release of Sworn To Sovereignty, will be the revamped sequel to Blades Of Magic, which is Blades of Illusion. Sometime around then Sworn To Sovereignty will get a sequel in the form of Book 9 and I’ll finally be able to go back to my side project called Oath of Justice.

As for non-novels, I have two short stories I’d LOVE to write:

  1. The Red Poison Mystery and death. That’s all I’ll say.
  2. A Harper’s Lament. Terris and Ciardis got into a lot of mischief during their training period. This is a glimpse into that.

None of this would have been possible without the help and continued support of the amazing fan base.   From the bottom of our hearts, thank you ever so much and we wish you happy reading! ~ Terah & Rachel

Sworn To Raise debuts on GIRLS’ LIFE BOOK CLUB with New Hardcover & Book Trailer Reveal

Today I’m so excited to announce that the Courtlight series is now available in hardcover. As you all know I never do anything halfway and so I’d also like to announce the new trailer for the Courtlight series.

I am over-the-moon that Girls’ Life Magazine has elected to debut the trailer and the new cover. So check it out, share, and tell me what you think! Tag #ShatterAnEmpire!

ON GIRLS’ LIFE

My next post will go more in depth about where and how you can pick up a hardcover copy (trust me it’s going to be FABULOUS) but enjoy this post for now:

Sworn To Raise New1 Kindle

Last but not least there is a new BLURB to go with this awesome new cover:

Seventeen-year-old Ciardis Vane grew up in a small village on the edge of the realm. Beautiful, destitute, and desperate she is looking to get out any way she can. She has worked her whole live as a laundress with no hope of escaping her fate anytime soon.

But then her life changes when a strange woman appears with the key to Ciardis’s escape. With an offer to take her to the capital and a life she’d never dreamed of, its hard to resist. There’s only one catch.

She wants Ciardis to become a companion: she’ll be required to wear expensive dresses, learn to conduct suitable magic, educate herself on court proclivities, and – in the end – chain herself to the highest bidder. A Patron for life.

Ciardis knows that this is her one opportunity to change her life.

But what she does not know is that she will soon be at the heart of intrigues and power struggles, and that her new life in luxury demands a high price, perhaps even the life of a prince.

In My Inbox: Libraries, School Paper, The Holidays

Hi Readers,

I usually post In My Inbox on my TUMBLR account – located here – POST 1, POST 2, POST 3 etc. But I thought I’d try something different and post them on my blog as well. Here’s some of emails I’ve gotten recently and my responses.

LETTER ONE FROM AARON THE STUDENT:

Hi Terah, my name is Aaron. For my American Literature class in school I have to do an author study. I chose to do my study on you because I LOVE your Courtlight, and the Crown Service series! For my author study I have to include a 1 to 2 page biography on the authors life. In order to get full points I have to try to find interesting information that is hard to find on the internet, so I thought I would try to ask you. I can’t wait to start your third series. Just saying I read a lot of fantasy books, and I think you have written my favorite fantasy series. I hope you have the time to reply to me. I would definitely like to put some things in my biography that you think should go into it. Thank you in advance if you reply, and for giving me a series that I can actually read in my free time! Normally I don’t actually do that because I don’t like reading a lot, so I really love your books! Can’t wait for your future books!

ANSWER FROM TERAH

It’s quite an honor that you chose to do your author study on me. Getting this email was both of surprise and a delight, not just as an author but as a former student. It’s been 9 years since I had my last English studies class. AP English Lit actually and I have fond memories of the subject, so I’m delighted to help you.

—–

The easiest thing I’ve found about writing is coming up with the ideas themselves. The stories flood my mind like glimpses of a past life. A girl climbing the rigging of a sailing ship on the high seas one day…and a boy hiding from his dragon contemporaries in a dark alley the next.

I started writing fantasy as a way to combat boredom living overseas as a humanitarian in East Africa. Fantasy was my choice of genre because it’s all I read as a child and teen. My favorite books always took me to new worlds, so it only made sense that when writing I escaped back into those same unique realms.

Building on that desire to write, I wanted to see if people were interested in reading what I had to say. When I first published a book about young mages in an academy, I had to do a lot of studying of my own. I didn’t know what it meant to be an author, much less my own publisher. I had to reach out and make contacts with editors, artists, and book formatters.

I had to budget both my time in making this hobby (at the time) of mine worthwhile, but also see what I wanted to invest financially in the process. After two months of edits, proofing, and formatting I was able to put my first book up on Amazon. Luckily it wasn’t my last and from then I just kept writing what I loved.

What I’ve learned about being a writer is that it’s a lot of hard work and takes a lot of dedication, but when you get it right, and you’ll know when you do, it’s worth it. So my life lesson would be to stay true to yourself and never give up. You never know what you’ll find on the other side of the page after all.

As for my favorite animal…I’ve always been partial to Siberian tigers. They’re beautiful and ferocious. You asked me if there is anywhere in the world that I’ve loved to go see. I’ve been to many continents and countries, but one that I’ve yet to see to is Russia. I’d love to go to St. Petersburg and tour the old Tsarist palaces just to revel in the history of imperial family.

LETTER TWO FROM LINDA THE LIBRARIAN:

We would love to have this series in our collection for our YA’s but I’m having trouble locating all of the books in print format. Please help.

ANSWER FROM TERAH:

Thank you for contacting me! I’m so pleased to hear from librarians and would love to have Courtlight added to your print catalog.

p.s. From Terah – this note came in more than a month ago and since then I’ve had some exciting further developments in the print arena for librarians and for readers! Stay tuned for updates in Spring 2016 – I think you’ll like it!

LETTER THREE FROM DIANNA:

Just a quick line to tell you Thank you for your generosity for Across The Arid Seas. I hope you have a tremendously joyful Christmas or whatever you celebrate, and make sure to tell everyone how you feel about them. Life is a mystery and we must take advantage of every moment to appreciate those who are important to us as tomorrow is unknown. Thanks again, Dianna

ANSWER FROM TERAH:

Aww, that’s so sweet of you! Thank YOU so much for being a reader and Happy Holidays as well!

In My Inbox: Paperbacks, French Books, Reviews

Hi Readers,

I thought I would continue this IN MY INBOX feature from earlier, so here we go:

LETTER ONE FROM J:

First of all, i just got the first four books in paperback now. I was wondering when book 5 and 6 might be going into paperback?

This message can be answered at all time when YOU HAVE THE TIME TO DO SO!

Keep writing!!!!!!!

ANSWER FROM TERAH:

Hi J, Thanks so much for buying Books 1 – 4 in paperback. Such an honor and I hope you love the design of the books. The flourishes in the chapter headings are my favorite. ^.^ I’ll be sending Books 5-6 (and hopefully 7) to a formatter now and they should be available for purchase in late September.

LETTER TWO FROM MY FRENCH TRANSLATOR:

I have just finished reviewing the proofreader’s comments. I agree with almost everything (except the commas after the question marks in the dialogues), and her insights were useful!

ANSWER FROM TERAH:

*grins* I love it when my team works together so well, so I’m sharing with you all – my lovely readers. The French translation of SWORN TO RAISE: COURTLIGHT #1 is now populating to all retailers and it’s so exciting. We’ve already gotten sales. Book 2 will be available in mid-fall. If you read French, you can find everything you need over at: teedun.com/francais
LETTER THREE FROM LOUISA:

My post went live today 🙂 Here’s my link.

ANSWER FROM TERAH:

How awesome is this?! This email actually went to Rachel (Author Assistant) and then to me but you get the drift. Thank you so much Louisa for sharing your reviews of all six Courtlight books on Words I Write Crazy!

You can see her reviews of the Sworn To Raise: Courtlight #1, Sworn To Transfer: Courtlight #2, and Sworn To Conflict: Courtlight #3 on this page.  Sworn To Secrecy: Courtlight #4, Sworn To Defiance: Courtlight #5, and Sworn To Ascension: Courtlight #6 are here.

Highlights:

I was reminded of Michelle Saraga’s books while reading these books, and that was just really fantastic!

I just dove into these books (how did I wait so long?) and the pages just flew right on by!

BIG Announcement: Librarians & Teachers – This One Is For You

Huge thanks to the numerous librarians and teachers who have reached out. Amazing to see the Courtlight series in your catalogs already (like the North Texas Digital Consortium & the Toronto Public Library) and to have eager readers checking them out to explore Algardis.  – 08/09/15
—-

Library Overdrive - Terah SMLThis summer, I was given the opportunity to get the entire Courtlight series into libraries, classrooms, and independent bookstores across the country. In partnership with one of the biggest literary agencies in the U.S. market, I am reaching out to the amazing classrooms and libraries across the U.S. in order to make Courtlight available to readers and individuals in their markets. Libraries and teachers deserve so much love and are crucial parts of the literary community. Now those same pillars can order the entire Courtlight series (brand new edits included) for their patrons and collections in their favorite classroom, middle or high school library, or local library.

Direct through OverDrive, 3M Cloud Library, and Ingram – the premier catalog services for librarians and teachers – Courtlight Books 1-6 are now available in eBook format and soon to be paperback + case-laminate hardcover. This series has sold over 100,000 English-language copies and melds intricate story lines with remarkable characters and unforgettable magic.

It is available for only $2.99 to your local library – yes, you read that right – with no repurchase fee. Appropriate for ages 12 – 19 and Grades 7 -12. Further information on content can be found on the Resources For Librarians page. For the librarians and teachers with a limited budget, I’m offering a free paperback for your catalog with every eBook set purchased plus a prize pack (see below for details).

Sworn To Raise | Sworn To Transfer | Sworn To Conflict | Sworn To Secrecy | Sworn To Defiance | Sworn To Ascension

So this is what I spent most of June/July doing – working feverishly around the clock to update manuscripts with a new proofreader, formatting new EPUB files for libraries-only, and setting up an access system to libraries. That and working with translators, proofreaders and copywriters in three languages to get Courtlight up for a global release.

Courtlight Series Sale

Librarians and Schoolteachers, please fill out this form and expect a Courtlight Librarian Order + Prize Package & Information in the mail. No gimmicks. I just need your name, job title, library/school name, and mailing address. U.S. only at this time! 😉

Leave a comment on this post with the name of your library or school as well if you’re interested and you’ll be entered to win an entire set of Courtlight series books in paperback. Hardback if it goes live soon enough.

An Introduction to my Assistant – Rachel

RachelHey Readers,

I felt it was time to do a formal introduction of my new assistant, Rachel. 😀 As time has passed, I’ve gotten busier and busier with the business side of writing. That leaves me less time to write in general. To rectify the problem, I’ve decided to work with an assistant in 2015 and boy I’ve already noticed a difference in my ability to be productive and get things done!

Now that I have Rachel by my side things get done quicker with two people on the task. Rachel has been a long-time beta reader for me and friend, so it really was the best combination to bring her onto my team as my assistant. She’s now in charge of my Facebook page, Facebook reader group, giveaways, keeping me on target with my writing, reminding me of project deadlines, and answering any questions you all have. We’ve had two great months to work together before I officially introduced her to you and really have managed to make a seamless work relationship.

You can reach Rachel through my official Facebook page: www.facebook.com/TerahEdunAuthor or by email: assistant@terahedun.com

Now that formal introductions are over, let’s get to the fun part shall we? Rachel has an AWESOME background and story which I think you’ll find fascinating especially if you’re a fan of my CROWN SERVICE series. She’s a lady sword fighter who does combat training in a variety of weapons like longswords. If you don’t know what that is, check out this NY Times story on the art form. How cool is that? Once you finish reading the interview you’ll understand why she’s the perfect assistant and beta reader for me. Hint, not only is she really great at keeping me on track, but is also a practiced fighter who studies herbalism! You’ll see, now read on and please welcome Rachel to the team in the comments! <3

Lewis’s “The Horse and His Boy” – the first fantasy book I had ever read.   I was immediately hooked and I knew with all of my 8 year old heart that I was going to grow up to be a fighter.   That single book set me on a life-changing path and ten years later when I was 18 I was able to make that dream come true.   Pennants and banners snapping in the breeze, sun glinting off helms and the glitter of gleaming mail coats.   All of this is something I experience now as a tourney fighter with the SCA.

How long have you been training with a sword?

I have been training for the past 13 years, since I was 16 years old.

Are you trained in more than one weapon and/or hand-to-hand combat?

I am trained primarily with sword and shield, however I am also trained and authorized in great sword, glaive, spear, mace and axe.   I have never had any official training for hand-to-hand, but I like to think of myself as a bit of a scrapper.

What’s it like being a woman in a historically male field?

This is somewhat of an interesting topic and I am a bit torn on it truth be told. The bottom line is that I do not see myself as a female fighter.   I am a fighter who happens to be a woman.   Once the helm and armor is donned, there are no allowances made for genders.   On the other side of that coin though, a small part of me is very proud that I am one of the guys and I love to see other women get out there and test their mettle. As a woman that is only 5’2”, I try to be an example to others that size does not matter.   And I will say that I am very grateful to the other woman fighters who have gone before me and paved the way during much harder times, when I may not have been as readily accepted in the shield-wall as I am today.

Note from Terah: I’d like to point out here that Rachel is not the only amazing woman to do medieval combat training just as she says. See this bio on Samantha Sword (pictured kneeling here). tumblr_mzofj8ho1W1rjo7j8o4_400

You once explained that you belonged to a medieval society/organization with a global presence. Tell us more about them!

I belong to a group called the Society for Creative Anachronism, or more commonly referred to as the SCA.   From the website the SCA is an “…international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our “Known World” consists of 19 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which feature tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, various classes & workshops, and more”   I have traveled the United States as well as Sweden, Germany, Wales, and England attending events and fighting in tournaments and melees.   The largest event the SCA has can include anywhere from 10,000-15,000 people in attendance and about 5,000 fighters on the field during the melees.

What did you have to do to earn your title? Can you explain the ranking system of the Society for Creative Anachronisms to us?   I have the title of “Lady” it is the most basic of titles and usually the first to be given out to members.   I earned my title by being an active member in the SCA and by helping out as much as I could within my local group and Kingdom.

Is there a female warrior – fictional or non-fictional, that you find inspiring?

Yes, very much so.   You see, even though I had made the decision when I was 8 years old to become a warrior someday, I needed a bit more encouragement that I could do it when I grew older. That is when I was introduced to Alanna the Lioness, by Tamora Pierce. Here was a fictional character who was about the same age as I currently was going through some similar trials and I kept telling myself that if she could do it, I could as well.Rachel2

For all the women and men out there who want to learn how to wield a sword, where would you suggest they go to learn more?

You can definitely find out if there is a local SCA group close to you and contact them to see when fighter practice would be.   Practice is free and most groups have loaner armor and people willing to help train you and get you started.   I had the good fortune to stumble upon my local SCA group when I was 16. A friend of mine had told me about them and I showed up unannounced to their local fighter practice.   Imagine if you will…there I was, a 16 years old girl with bright blue hair, walking up to a complete group of strangers with all the courage I could muster. A chance to finally realize the dream I had since I was 8. I walked up to them and asked “Are you the SCA?” When they said yes, I said in a determined voice, “Good, I want to fight!”

Can you tell us a little about yourself outside of sword-fighting?

I am 29 years old and currently residing in England.   I am also a college student and am actively pursuing a major in German as well as a certificate to teach English as a second/foreign Language.   I am an avid reader with close to 700 books in my personal library. While they consist mostly of fantasy books, I also have texts on medieval sword fighting techniques, herbalism, mystery, classics, and historical fiction.   Even though I love reading I love video games and hiking just as much!

And that is the end of the interview!

——————————————-
New call out for beta readers for Book Seven! If you’re interested in becoming a beta reader for me, read on!

I’m getting started on SWORN TO VENGEANCE and I would love reader feedback on the plot arc and character development. You can be any age, any experience level – all I ask is that you be enthusiastic about fantasy books. If you haven’t done this before – don’t worry about it. I’m looking for feedback as detailed as you want (i.e. Terah you missed a semicolon in the second line of paragraph four on page 87) or as broad as you want (i.e. I really didn’t like that Steve character – he’s too angry – change him ASAP).

If you’ve read Books One – Six in the Courtlight series, you’ll have a much easier time beta reading for me as well. You can download free copies of the first three books here.

What would be expected of you as a beta reader?
  • You would be emailed the manuscript/Word doc on Mon, March 23rd, and you’ll have approximately five days to provide feedback (I’d need it back by Fri, Mar. 27th).  Please only enter if you’re available during this timeframe.
  • You would be expected to give me your honest opinion about what you didn’t like, what you’d prefer to see changed (if anything), and basically just your overall thoughts. I’m not looking for unwarranted praise. Only your complete honesty can help me improve the story. Don’t worry about hurting my feelings. 🙂
  • Please agree to not share the story with anyone else.
If you are interested in reading Sworn to Vengeance and providing feedback which will help me revise, please answer the following questions in the comment section of this blog post (people reading this on Goodreads will need to visit my actual blog to comment – comments made on Goodreads will not be considered):

1) Your first name
2) Your email address
3) Is this your first time doing a beta read or book critique?
4) Favorite authors (just so I can get a feel for your general likes)
5) Have you read all six Courtlight series books?

I will post my list of beta readers on Sunday, March 22nd, so check back then!!!  Thanks so much!!!

A BIG THANK YOU AND SOME NEWS

I want to thank you all for your patience and being supportive readers. I received dozens of a messages a week asking me where the next book is. I didn’t answer all of them immediately but I did read every one and now that Sworn To Ascension: Courtlight #6 has released I’ve taken the time to personally respond to everyone who emailed or Facebook messaged me or commented. I knew you wanted the next book and wanted it now. That’s my goal in 2015. To keep producing what you want and do it timely.

To keep in touch, I’ve joined forces with another fantasy author, K.J. Colt of kjcolt.com,  to put together an awesome private group for readers. I will share with you there updates on my manuscripts, new cover art, my publishing process and answer questions as I can. My lovely assistant, Rachel, will also be there to share exclusive teasers from in-progress manuscripts before release day.

Sounds good? Then join here -> THE GUILD

Now for the NEWS:

  • I’m super elated to announce that I have signed with Nancy Yost Literary Agency. I’m really excited about this partnership.
  • I also want you to know that I have a collaboration project releasing in March 2015 that will BLOW your mind. The cover will be revealed VERY SOON, so check back and take a peek. You won’t be disappointed!
  • I should have the cover for Sworn To Vengeance up on the website within the next week but I won’t be announcing a release date just yet. However in order to prepare the book for release I will be asking for beta readers in THE GUILD. 😀 So if you want to join my team, get ready.
  • I’m going to be convening a special X-group of readers for the re-writes for Blades Of Illusion. Instead of sending them the full finished book as I do my betas, we’ll be working with every five chapters to completely re-write Crown Service #2 and make it better than before. Applications for the X-group will be announced soon.

That’s about all.
